Feritily Coaching

My approach involves me using my knowledge of gynecology, obstetrics, fertility and IVF support, and combining this with Chinese medicine diagnostic techniques to find imbalances. By doing this, I’m able to uncover the root of the problem. I can then formulate an individual fertility treatment plan that is adjusted at each stage of the female cycle or IVF process.
With your treatment, what matters the most to me is getting the best results for you in the shortest space of time.

What can I expect from an acupuncture treatment?
Before I perform any acupuncture treatment, I will always undertake a diagnostic consultation. This begins with me asking you some questions about your medical history, your condition and the other treatments you have received or are currently receiving. I will also then identify any visual signs, look at your tongue and take your pulse.
From the information obtained from the diagnostic consultation, I will make a diagnosis. If acupuncture is a suitable treatment for your health complaint, I will then apply needles to specific points of your body which relate to the complaint.
During a treatment, acupuncture needles are typically retained between 20-30 minutes.
As I am a practitioner of holistic Chinese medicine, I will often combine other techniques to properly address your health complaint rather than simply using acupuncture independently.
Does acupuncture hurt?
This is a very common question we get asked, simply because needles are most often associated with pain. However, this is not the case with acupuncture.
With acupuncture, you will often not even notice the needles being inserted. At around a fraction of a millimetre in diameter, acupuncture needles are very fine. This makes them many times smaller than a typical injection needle.
With an acupuncture needle, you may feel a slight tingling sensation, warmth or a dull ache but these are what we refer to as Qi sensations or De Qi. This is one of the signs that prove a certain point has been stimulated and is needed for the acupuncture treatment to be effective.
Do I need to undress for an acupuncture treatment?
Any acupuncture treatment I offer will be specifically tailored to your particular health complaint. Due to this, the location of the acupuncture needles will vary.
Some treatments will only involve the application of needles to the face, hands or toes. Whilst offer treatments will require you to remove clothing to make acupuncture points available, i.e. on your upper leg.
With every treatment I offer, towels will always be used for your modesty. Your personal religious and cultural sensitivities will always be respected
How will I feel after an acupuncture treatment?
Any acupuncture treatment will feature a tailored needle combination aimed at balancing your unique constitution.
In addition to being utilised for specific health complaints, acupuncture will also lead to increased energy levels.
It should be noted that the positive effects of acupuncture are not immediate and often on the day of the treatment you will feel very relaxed and even slightly spaced out.
Will acupuncture help me?
In order to identify whether acupuncture will assist your particular health concern, I will undertake a diagnostic consultation. From the information obtained, I will make a diagnosis and decide whether acupuncture is suitable for you by itself or as adjunctive therapy.
Generally, when a condition is not able to be corrected by Western medicine, or when the treatment is quite expensive, or has significant side effects associated with it, acupuncture is worth a try as it promotes the natural healing abilities of the body.
Acupuncture’s effectiveness extends far beyond the conception that it is only useful for chronic pain management. Acupuncture is also recognised as a comprehensive system of preventative healthcare and maintenance. For this reason, it is very effective when combined with conventional medicine.
Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is extremely safe when undertaken by a licensed and trained professional. I am a member of The British Acupuncture Council which means I am both licensed and trained. As a member, I must adhere to strict codes of conduct and hygiene rules.
The importance of utilising a qualified acupuncture practitioner cannot be underestimated
Does acupuncture have side effects or complications?
As an extremely safe treatment method, there will be minimal side effects or complications when undertaken by a qualified practitioner.
It should be advised that some patients will have a reaction to acupuncture. However, this takes place in a small percentage of cases. These side effects are very minor and are not long-lasting. Minor side effects can include light-headedness, dizziness and minor bruising at the needlepoint.
I advise anyone wishing to receive acupuncture to discuss any previous health issues and concerns with me, before I commence treatment. This enables me to ensure your safety as a patient and the treatment’s effectiveness towards your condition
Can I have acupuncture if I'm pregnant?
Yes, I offer specific acupuncture treatments for women who are expecting a baby. These treatments are designed to address the common health complaints you may experience whilst pregnant.
If you are pregnant and wishing to have an acupuncture treatment, I would also advise that it is performed by a licensed and qualified practitioner like myself. The reason for this is because acupuncture is a complex treatment which requires extensive training. It is important to take into consideration that there are acupuncture points and needle manipulations which should not be used during pregnancy.
How many acupuncture treatments will I need?
Any acupuncture treatment I offer will be specifically tailored to your particular health complaint. Due to this, the total number of treatments required will change in each case.
The number of treatments are largely based on a number of factors. These include: the severity of your condition, how long you have been suffering with it, how often you intend to have acupuncture and your overall health in general.
Whilst every patient is different, I generally recommend weekly acupuncture treatments for a course of 6 to 10 sessions.
At the end of the initial course, I will then review the effectiveness of your treatment so far. If your condition hasn’t been resolved completely, I may then prescribe a new course of treatments or combine these treatments with another form of Chinese medicine.
Once your health has improved, occasional acupuncture treatments may be recommended to prevent recurrence.
What should I do to prepare before an acupuncture treatment?
I always recommend that patients do not eat a large meal within one hour prior to the treatment. On the day of treatment, I also recommend that you do not consume alcohol, coffee, tea, any other high caffeine beverages, or any staining food or drinks.
The reason I recommend not eating a large meal is because, as with many other procedures, eating prior to treatment can affect the effectiveness of the treatment. This is due to the digestion process having an effect on the pulse, which I will need to be able to feel during the treatment.
I recommend not consuming any alcoholic drinks or high caffeine beverages due to the unnatural effects they can have on the body.
Any staining food or drinks should be avoided due to the unnatural colouring they can give the tongue.
Should I stop other medications?
No, this is not advised. I advise all of my patients to continue with treatments and medications prescribed by their GP.
Whilst my acupuncture treatments are effective, they are designed to be initially be utilised as a complementary therapy.
After receiving multiple treatments from myself, you may find you are able to reduce or stop taking your current medication. However, I always advise that you consult your GP before doing so.
