Nutritional Therapist in London

I am a practitioner of Chinese medicine and utilise the principles of this to provide nutritional therapy at my clinics in West Hampstead and Walthamstow, London.

In accordance with the nutrition advice of Chinese medicine, I am an advocate of a balanced diet and pay particular attention to the specific functions of different foods.

According to Chinese medicine, grains should be used to nourish, fruit to assist, livestock to benefit and vegetables to supplement. I will always advise you to consume these foods in proper proportions in order to maintain the normal functions of the human body.

Utilising my expertise in Chinese medicine, I provide nutritional therapy and education on the role of specific food types and their relationship with the different organs in our bodies.

Chinese medicine says that each food type has a specific role to play with the five main organs in the body. This is based on a food’s particular properties and flavours. For example, a food will have specific properties such as warm, hot, cold or cool. Beyond this, there are five flavours; sweet, sour, spicy, bitter and salty.

The properties and flavours of a food have an important relationship with the five main organs in the body. An unbalanced diet or consuming too much of one food type could potentially harm one of these organs.

As a Chinese medicine practitioner, I will always review your food intake as part of my diagnosis into the health concerns you are facing. Often, the symptoms are related to food intake and can be treated with food therapy. If food therapy fails, it is then time to look into alternative treatment.

I base my treatments around the teachings of Sun Simiao, highly regarded as the greatest doctor from the Tang Dynasty

Sun Simiao said the following:

“First, modify the patient's diet and lifestyle and only then, if these do not effect a cure, treat with medicinals and acupuncture”

If food is the issue, I will create a nutritional plan which is individualised to best suit your needs and which incorporate the tenets of Chinese medical theory to be in line with the other therapies used in your treatments.
